![]() The entire area is rich with opportunity for nature lovers and outdoor adventure. The area is known for mountain biking, wonderful walking and mountain climbing for all levels. Beautiful rivers - the Mawdach and Dovey - provide excellent fishing as they meander down to unspoilt estuaries full of wildlife. ![]() The popular and pretty seaside town of Aberdyfi (below) and the Yns' las sand dunes (across the estuary from Aberdyfi), are only 15 miles away, sitting on the wide, sandy beaches of Cardigan bay. This area is ideal for sailing or days spent just relaxing and swimming. The salt marshes and estuary in the Dyfi area is a biosphere reserve designated by UNESCO. You can find out more about this at www.unesco.org The busy market town of Machynlleth is under 10 mins away along the Dyfi Valley. The colourful town has a unique and creative feel - there are art and craft galleries and shops many selling local produce. There are plenty of pubs, restaurants cafes including a wholefood cafe to choose from. The whole area has been strongly influenced by the arrival of C.A.T (The Centre of Alternative Technology) some 35 years ago. It is well worth a trip (15 minutes up the road) and continues to educate and inspire the many that visit it. The larger university town of Aberystwyth is half an hour further south along the coast offering a wider selection of shops and nightlife. It is also the home to the impressive National Library of Wales. The surrounding landscapes are varied and spectacular and offer ample opportunity to the explorer and outdoor adventurer of all ages. The area is rich with mystical legends and history and there is many a castle to visit. Riding Carreg Dressage can offer guided rides as an introduction to the local area and livery for those who might like to bring their horses on holiday. There are spacious purpose-built stables and secure paddocks run by professional, friendly staff. There are miles of quiet country lanes, wooded bridleways and ancient drover's roads to discover and explore while looking down on the Dyfi River, often with distant views of the Irish Sea. Only 12 miles away there are many miles of golden beaches to race along. Carreg Dressage also have top class indoor and outdoor arenas which can be hired in the event of poor weather.
